An Historic Challenge for Us All

As a community of history lovers, we know that keeping a long-term perspective on our current situation can help us understand our place in it. Obviously, no one has a crystal ball, but if history is a guide we know we will get through this horrible pandemic, though sadly not without a lot of sacrifice and suffering. We look to the past for examples of just how we got through other difficult times and it’s pretty clear that overcoming challenges has always depended on coming together and embracing the hardships as a whole community.

We are sending our heartfelt best wishes for your health and the safekeeping of those you love. We plan to help keep your spirits up by posting interesting photos from Manchester’s past on our social media sites. (If you are not yet on our private group Facebook page, our Instagram page, or our Twitter account, you can get there by clicking on the appropriate icon below.) This is a good time to let us know what you would like to see more of and to ask any questions. Our dedicated curator, Shawn Harrington, has scanned thousands of photos in the collection and we hope you will enjoy seeing them.

Our deepest thanks to all of you who support our efforts to preserve Manchester’s history and to share it with the community.
